About

Charlie & the Fox:

Charlie & the Fox begin in it’s early stages in December 2008, at that point it was a plan without shape yet. Christina and myself began working on what to call our business, it needed to be something that represented a mixture of both our styles, which can be quite different. The name Charlie & the Fox emerged, Christina’s middle name is Charlotte so she’s known as ‘Charlie’ and my favourite nickname is ‘Fox’. Charlie & the Fox spent the next few months finding itself whilst we started developing the website ourselves. The first draft of the website and logo were very different to the one that stands today, the first draft didn’t feel right as it didn’t seem to represent us. So Charlie & the Fox had a quick and painless, almost, transformation to the new logo and website.

The  logo itself is something that means a lot to us, we use to have a family of foxes living in our garden (a mum and her two babies). We use to see the mum carrying her fluffy cubs about. The little fox family was so cute, and a bit cheeky by stealing any random thing by the back door (they love gloves). I filmed the foxes playing in the garden and sketched the logo from one of the not so baby anymore cubs.

This blog is my place to talk about my personal side and kind of behind the scenes of Charlie & the Fox.

About Roxy:

My name is Roxanne. Also known as: Roxy, Rox, Foxy, Fox, Foxanne. I’m 22 years old and graduated from uni in 2008 with a degree in Digital Broadcast Media. I love working on the Charlie & the Fox website, although I do sometimes get annoyed at it. I’m so glad CSS is around, it saved my sanity quite a few times.

I love designing and sketching, I’m my happiest when I’m painting and printing. Being creative is something that I think runs in my family on both my dad’s and mum’s side, all my life they’ve encouraged me to create, draw and push my ideas further. I owe a lot to both of them, I wouldn’t be me without them. Definitely I wouldn’t have ‘the crazy’ if it wasn’t for my mum, haha.

Another person that made a big impact on me was my grandma. She taught me to sew, crochet and knit. At a young age I was using my mum’s sewing machine and making myself little things. At first I used the ‘grown up’ sewing machine out of defiance because my mum wouldn’t let me have Christina’s pink mini sewing machine, pink is now my favourite colour. Hand making things was always around me, my mum and grandma made clothes for Christina and myself all the time.

I love taking photos, I have an old 70s film camera and I love it to pieces. The colours come out amazing. So when I can I like to take photos of objects, places and people unaware of the camera.

I love: the sound of rain, cupcakes, sushi, Iranian food, Italian food, shuffle on my iPod, singing badly, trying to speak French in Paris, getting the train and bus (not in rush hour), my camera.
