The Nothing Notebook

Nothing collective open notebook2

Notebooks, one of my most favourite things. I never leave home without one, if I have an idea and I don’t write it down it will be gone and forgotten. That is why I was so excited when I got this from The Nothing Collective, because it is lovely and also because I have a little notebook obsession.

At the moment it is full of nothing, but not for long. Here is to nonsensical notes and endless lists.

Vintage me

Today I re-styled some parts of my site. Moved navs around, now have the blog post categories listed in a menu. Much easier to get to and see. I also changed that menu colour from black to grey, I think it looks better now. I could go on listing things I changed, but that would be boring. You could just have a little nosy instead to find out what changed, it could be like ‘Where’s Wally’ (or ‘Waldo’ if you’re American) for websites. Well…no I don’t think that will take off. Best stick with general looking.

This weekend I went to my first BBQ of the year, possibly the last if I believe pessimists that state that it’s not possible for the weather to be this amazing all summer and that it will rain! Even if the weather is not great it doesn’t matter, because if someone really wants a BBQ it’s going ahead. My sister got a BBQ going at night once, I watched her little ash covered face lit up by the warmth of the charcoal. I would have just grilled, but I love her commitment to charcoal tasting cooked meat.

The BBQ was great fun, but I got more excited by finding loads of cool vintage stuff. Helping my mum clear out old things worked out well for me, I got loads of gorgeous vintage clothes. I think there are still more to go through, I’ll be helping her again. There was one old suitcase, it might have been from the 60s, it was so lovely but was too damaged and rusty. I wish that was mine too, and that it wasn’t a wreck.

Oh well, I found some nice vintage finds on Etsy that I wouldn’t mind having either.

Pretty necklaces

Today the time just flew by so quickly, ah it feels like I don’t have enough time.
When I was little I use to wish that I could freeze time, not fly like other kids but my real reason for freezing time was so that I could cheat on tests and do well for once. Haha. Maybe that’s why I’m obsessed with clocks, time and pocket watches. Definitely love pocket watch necklaces.

I’m lusting for some new necklaces at the moment, I have a few long chain necklaces with charms but I want some chunky necklaces for the summer.

It’s summer…almost

Red knitted hat

It feels like it could almost be summer, so it’s time to get all summery. The lovely red hat I had knitted for winter will be fast asleep until next winter, no sun for it.

I have been on the lookout for some sandals, but couldn’t see any that I really wanted. I still had an image in my mind of a pair I saw last year and didn’t get. I was so excited when I saw today that Urban Outfitters are now selling a pair of sandals that fit the bill.

Now the only thing left is…Gold or Floral?

Pretty duvet

Today I’ve been painting (I painted my shade print onto a small canvas) and listening to the first season of ‘The Ricky Gervais Show’ podcast. Which I missed when it was first around in 2005.
Ah but it is so funny, Karl’s random comments and general ignorance is so funny.

They’ve turned these podcasts in to an animation which aired on HBO in February in the US, the clips that I’ve seen look good. I’m looking forward to it heading over to channel 4 on 23 April, but it’s a massive gap in the release of the show between America and UK. Annoying.

At the moment I’m looking for a new duvet, I’ve had mine for ages and think it’s time to get a decent one. I like that I’ve chosen to get a better and warmer one right after a really cold winter, not during while I was cold. Well done me.

I found some really pretty ones from Cath Kidston.

I don’t know if I want a feather one, I’m not sure about that. I get an image of all those poor ducks. I said to my sister the other day (I accidentally ended up rhyming), “A duck is dead, it’s in my bed”. That was my argument, as good as it was. I’ll think about it a bit more.

This is from Decorative Country Living.
